I can honestly say this is one of my best purchases ever! I absolutely loved this series and actually having it in my hands is amazing. If you want the whole series in outstanding condition and for a great price, (you're basically only paying for almost 8 out of 18 volumes. That's means you're getting 10 for free!) you're looking in the right place. Also if you've only watched the anime you are missing out!

Okay, so I watched to anime of this series when I was in like 6th grade and I've been wanting this box set since then. So I bought this a day after I turned 14. I do not regret spending half of my birthday money on this at all! It's all fun and games like the show at first but then when you get to volume 13 it starts to get serious and it's so good. If you generally like romantic/comedy series that get serious towards the end then you'll love Ouran High School Host Club.The box set arrived at my house on time and the box that had all the books was in perfect shape(I live in the USA so that might be why)and the note pad that comes with it is adorable.Also it's 18 books for 80 dollars which means each book is around 4 dollars rather than paying 10 dollars for each book separately.10/10 would recommend

I absolutely love this series and was absolutely ecstatic when I found the entire box set! It was like a dream come true!The one thing I can say about this manga is that it's incredibly sweet. The plot that was created here is enough to make a big grin spread across your face. It's like no matter what happened to you before--whether you had a bad day or not--as soon as you open this manga, a big smile forms the moment you read. The characters themselves are so mischievous and funny that you'll find yourself reading this series over and over again because it's so uplifting! Of course--like ALL manga--it shares its moments of drama, but I believe MOST of you (keyword: MOST) will find the ending incredibly sweet! After all, there's no fun giving out spoilers! Just read and you'll know what I'm talking about! (#^.^#)Overall, a terrific collection to own! (◠‿ ◠)

The series: If you have only seen the anime series, then there is a lot more to discover in the manga world, as the anime only covers the first six or seven books. Ouran High School Host Club is one of those memorable shoujo series that you pick up year after year to read and re-read. The characters are amazingly adorable, from the Host Club members and our atypical protagonist, Haruhi, to classmates, and non-school related characters like Haruhi's eccentric papa. I devoured the first half of this series easily - it is rife with shoujo and school tropes, like love triangles, sports events, and group outings, but somehow Hatori made this series unique in just how *CRAZY* the plots can get and how lovable all of the characters are. Going back to Haruhi, I think she made this series superior to some of the other shoujo series out there because she was so different - a bit hard to read and not the traditional always-sweet or hot-headed-with-a-heart-of-gold female character, but sympathetic regardless.As for the latter half, I did not quite like it as much as the beginning, because as the characters engage in more difficult issues, you lose some of that lighthearted brevity, which is realistic, but not as fun as crazy shenanigans. Still, Hatori does a great job in developing her characters' maturity and engaging the readers fully in relevant school issues, like parent-child problems and the sadness of graduating and forever changing your relationships with your school friends. And even though Haruhi and Tamaki's romance is one of the center plots, Hatori maintains a strong connection to all of the Host Club characters and focuses on the Club as a whole.The box set: If you're looking to own the series and have five or fewer books, the box set is definitely the way to go. I received all 18 books in new condition, with three of them having those annoying small tears in the spine (that bug the heck out of me but are ultimately cosmetic) along with the cute, exclusive notepad. The set opens up at the top, secured by velcro on each side, and folds down to reveal a mini bookshelf with all 18 novels and the notepad. There is also a plastic handle at the top that you can use to carry the set. Overall, the cardboard housing seems pretty secure and can be helpful in freeing up shelf space.

Arrived in such pristine condition and while I did get a bit worried with how I was going to get out a volume without ruining the spine I somehow managed to get it out somehow and still maintain its pristine condition. Definitely a MUST READ and WATCH! I've loved Ouran since I first saw it around five years ago or so and still watch it to this day!

This box set arrived in perfect condition AND A WEEK EARLY!! I bought the 'Death Note' box Set with this one and I must say I am ecstatic with the condition and delivery rate. This is, by far my best experience with an Amazon order! I completely recomend this to any Ouran High fan out there! Definitely worth it!!

Wow, what a beautiful box set. It has a carrier handle and everything. We got this anime set for my daughter's birthday as her main gift and she was thrilled. So beautiful and vibrant. If you have a child that loves Anime then this is the series for you. It will be hard to beat the price anywhere else. The books were pristine and came quickly. My daughter absolutely loves this series and we could not have been happier with the company. The books are beautiful and a have a great story. The price may seem high but is average for Anime.

cute and entertaining manga series. i bought the set from Amazon's store and not from a third party seller. shipping was super fast and item was in perfect condition. all the volumes were there and it also came with a cute notepad for this set! the item is in new, unopened condition and the quality of the drawings is so good! they are really detailed so sometimes it can be a bit dense to read, but once you get used it, the manga is really cute. the box it comes in is so nice and i am keeping it to store the manga cuz it has a velcro button to close it. it is really handy to keep the manga safe and secure.

After finishing with the utter splendidness that was Wolf by Wolf and Blood for Blood, I couldn't wait to read Ryan Graudin's latest release, and I was not disappointed.This book was a delightful fast-paced romp through historical highlights wherever and whenever they may be found, and I was willingly and cheerfully swept along for the ride at every turn. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamics of the crew, and especially liked reading a YA book without the seemingly obligatory love triangle. The relationships were real and relatable, but not less compelling for their substance.Time travel with a hefty dose of humor and optimism, circa the Flash or Dr. Who, made this my favorite YA book of the year.

This was the best book I have read in a long time! Fast pace does not let up, quirky futuristic slang was easy to adjust to. The story was unlike any of the formulaic stories on time travel. The only flaw I found was the name of the book. Invictus is the name of the ship, but it is also the name of a famous poem and movie, which are not related to this story at all!!! A better name would have been the "Ab Aeterno", or "Farway"

Oh wow what a ride?! So gripping from the first page and the group dynamics is spot on! Time travel, adventure, humor and drama all wrapped into an breath taking story! I LOVE anything by Ryan Graudin now and this was the first book I read from her!

I don't typically write reviews but... oh my gosh!! This book was beautiful! The way the author wrote with her vivid details and impeccable vocabulary was absolutely breathtaking! I found myself pausing to just admire certain descriptions. And the characters - she made them all engaging and unique of each other. But the entire storyline/plot was one of the most creative I've seen in a long time. I loved every page of this book - absolutely amazing and highly recommend!

I had originally borrowed this book from the library, but it was so good that I needed to own a copy (and re-read it!) I love the twists and turns, but it was the crew that made the book so great. Each character is so fun. The writing is amazing! I've been a fan of Ryan's for a long time and this book doesn't disappoint.

This really is a *HASHING amazing book. Through the storytelling by Ryan Graudin and sheer expanse of time traveled, it feels epic. I pre-ordered 'Invictus' based on the recommendations of the other authors of the book, the intriguing one-liner, and feeling that the title implied a novel of immense proportions and it it didn't disappoint me.It may only be coincidental that my son's name is Roman, but I happen to have a penchant for stories that include venturing to Ancient Rome, and combine that with time-travel, a red panda, Rubik's cubes, as well as teleportation, and this is a must-read. The story is hard to explain in a neat little nutshell - and I can't even imagine how the author Ryan quickly describes this book to people! One way would be to say that 'Invictus' is about a group of time-traveling-treasure-hunting-teenagers who basically end up saving the world from history and time fading away into nothingness. Make sense? Probably not (I guess you will have to read it).I loved the crew of whimsical characters, and those wonderful chapter titles! Sometimes I'd get lost in the amazingly imaginative techie talk that Graudin somehow came up with for this book, but that's a little because I'm still a sci-fi newbie (it happens a lot with many sci-fi/fantasy novels). I have to reread to grasp it all, but it feels like ultimate proof of the incredible world-building that has been accomplished. It's so complex and rich, that a second read is necessary to absorb it all and bring more of it to life.It also turns out I have forgotten all my Latin from my boarding school days but I was delighted to be transported back to the Coliseum that I've visited, except that it's now in use and there are gory scenes described. Graudin also transports us to places like Vegas and back to the Titanic. All of that is a real treat. Since I have a movie background, I just couldn't help but envision this as a movie (sorry, Ryan) because the imagery and storyline just scream 'film it' to me! Basically that just means it was so effective in terms of me visualizing the words I was reading into something vivid in my head. Read it and tell me how cool the costume and set design would be...Anyway, I was kind of glad to read that this will be a standalone novel without any followup (some people may not agree). It's so beautiful with its ending, leaving me to imagine what's next. There's so much that goes on for these characters, you trust that they will go on the right path.This book really is a marvel and a real success for Ryan Graudin, who has made a side step away from her grittier other novels. I hope she writes more in this vein. Everyone needs to read this, NOW.*And HASHING needs to be the next new word in everyone's vocabulary. It was just one of the cool words Graudin came up with!

Worth every penny.

I don't know what this book was doing in a dollar store but what a find! Although it was written for young adults, as a Senior, I could not put this book down. I just wish this type of history book was available when I was a student of History. Back in the sixties, the history books we were required to read were dry and boring. Marrin weaves facts with the personal side of FDR and the perspective of the world leaders involved in WW II. His writing style kept me turning the pages and it provoked me to examine this time in American history from a personal perspective. I recommend this book to people of all ages.

Albert Marrin is just an incredible writer, and I am grateful. I read all of his books, but was not thrilled with the subject of this one. After all, I know all about Franklin Roosevelt. WRONG!Boy, do I not know all about him. This is a riveting, thought-provoking, powerful, amazing read. I keep reading chunks to my husband and he loves Marrin too, and I know he will read it--and then I will be forced to listen to him reading chunks aloud to me.This man tells incredible true stories and makes them page turners. I cannot praise his writing enough. Read it! (My husband believes these books should not be labeled for young people in any way..they are compellingly good for adults too!)

A wonderful book! I love reading history and nobody tells the story better than Albert Marrin. He always tells the truth in an unvarnished and honest way. The book marketed as young adult nonfiction but is a compelling read for anyone of any age.

Wow, I could not put this book down. It is well written, very dramatic (his mother, WWI, Great Depression, WWII and much more) and thoroughly covers the life and presidency of FDR.

Amazing, balanced overview of Roosevelt's strengths/weaknesses as well as a very readable overview of the crises he dealt with. Good for anyone wanting a readable option of that time period, adult or middle schoolers.

I highly recommend this book, whether you are new to smoking or have been at it for a while. Due to where I live I need to use an electric smoker, and all of the recipes I have tried so far have worked great and translate well to electric. The smoked deviled egg recipe is fantastic. I have been wanting to make smoked deviled eggs for a long time but couldn't think of a way to make it worth without overlooking the egg, and this book has the perfect solution. The brisket and pulled pork recipes are also solid. So many recipes to choose from, ans they range from basic to very creative. I highly recommend this book!

If you are interested in smoking, this book is fantastic. The cherry-glazed baby backs alone are worth the price of this incredibly informative book. I have been smoking for nearly 10 years and I learn something new every time I pick up Project Smoke. So far, EVERY recipe that I have tried has been exceptional. The St. Louis Style Ribs with Brown Sugar, Butter, and Vanilla glaze are beyond anything you will find at a restaurant. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned smoker, I recommend this book for you.

Bought this as a Kindle book, and am very disappointed that it only has book sections (beef, pork, desserts etc) that you can click on, not the actual recipe, or a recipe listing. To find a recipe, you have to go, page by page by page through every single recipe to see what the book has. If you find a recipe you like you better bookmark it right away or forever go through pages until you find it again. Doesn't even have an index of recipes in the back of the book. I hate cookbooks like this but come across them every now and then in Kindle format.

Like so many other people, I've long been a fan of Steven Raichlen's BBQ mastery, both from his PBS shows and his many cookbooks. Certainly, I've learned to rely on his recipes over the years. So when we purchased a second smoker (having worn out our first, inexpensive one), it was a no-brainer to buy this.One reason I reached for this book first was the certainty that Raichlen would give solid, reliable advice to help me get started. For example, he explains the options for flavoring the raw food (salting, curing, brining, marinades, etc.); he makes the differences in smoking methods sound simple; and he includes easy-to-read charts for identifying which woods are used for smoking regionally. Best of all, he keeps you relaxed through all this education, so you can remember that the point of all this is to enjoy yourself.Ultimately, you turn to a book like this for the recipes -- both the basics ("just tell me how to make a brisket") and more exotic items. And as usual, Raichlin is a winner in every category. Chapters are devoted to basics and "the seven steps to smoking nirvana" and explanations of smoker types (35 pages on that, so it's far more than a vague arm-wave); starters; beef; pork; lamb; burgers, sausages, and more; poultry, seafood; vegetables, side dishes, and meatless smoking; desserts; cocktails.We've only had the book (and the new smoker) for a few weeks, but we already have made several items -- intentionally starting small, as I prefer to make mistakes when it doesn't say "serves 10." Our Thanksgiving meal started with smoked planked Camembert with jalapeños and pepper jelly -- though in respect for the spice wimps we used kumquat jelly and pushed the peppers to the side. It was super-simple, yummy, and yet unexpected-tasting. I've also made the smoked eggs (originally with the intention of using 'em in his smoked chopped-liver appetizer, until the liver-haters talked me out of it). And although the "red hot wings with Pac-Rim seasonings" is marked as an appetizer, it was a good (and easy to throw together!) meal for the two of us (plus leftovers). His simple recipe for smoked tri-tip (a dry rub of salt, pepper, garlic powder, dried rosemary) was just the ticket for a lazy Sunday afternoon meal, wherein I could spend more attention fiddling with the new gizmo's controls (such as learning that the smoker is JUST out of Bluetooth range of my home office, ah well).It's obvious that we have to try his "slam dunk brisket" (how could we not?). I already have a duck in the freezer, so next up is apt to be the recipe for tea-smoked duck. I also bought the cold-smoker attachment, so surely I also have to make the Bornholm cold-smoked lax, right?No matter which recipe Raichlen is sharing, though, he's darned good at the job. His own voice comes through loud-and-clear -- you know his preferences! -- but the instructions never make you guess, or realize too late that you were supposed to put something on to soak 20 minutes ago.It's a winner.

Project Smoke was a god send for me. Not only does it give some really good recipes, it also gives information on how to smoke different meats with different woods, with different smoker types. Want to smoke a pork loin (And I highly recommend doing so) but don't have a specific recipe for one? No problem. There is a section on what types of wood works best with what types of meats. In each chapter there is a chart that shows what temperature to set you smoker and what target you should hit for internal temperature. So in the pork chapter, all that I had to do was look for pork loin in the meat chart, set my smoker. The intro discussed the various wood types and how well they pair with a meat type. Easy as pie. This cook book encouraged me to expand my horizons, and do chicken breasts, pork loins, even a turducken! I going to try the Whiskey double smoked turkey tomorrow night for a pot-luck at work on Thursday. I included a pic of a pork loin that I smoked that I was inspired to do with this cook book. It had a very nice smoke ring, and the flavor was incredible. It took a very poor tasting hatfield barbecue pork loin and made it in to one of the best things I got out of my smoker! That wasn't even a recipe in the book, just went off the discussion on wood types, and temperature guides. The recipe's themselves are also pretty good.

I would not have known about T. H. White's memoir of trying to train a goshawk were it not for Helen Macdonald's wonderful analysis in H IS FOR HAWK, her recent account of training her own hawk. White, as he himself admits, does a lot of things wrong: feeding the bird far too much, for example. This horrifies Macdonald, and I expected it to horrify me too. But, because he is unaware of his mistakes at the time, what comes over has no cruelty in it whatsoever; frustration and occasional despair, yes, but otherwise just the very honest account of a lonely man's struggle to bond with this wild creature of the air.And beautifully written! Which surprised me a little, but I should have realized that the author of THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING (the source for CAMELOT and an inspiration for HARRY POTTER) would have pretty strong chops. But again, the amazing quality of Helen Macdonald's writing -- easily the best I had read all year -- had made me assume that no one could equal her. Wrong again! In fact, I realized that by embracing the comparison with White, Macdonald was writing for her life. "Goshawks were Hamlet, were Ludwig of Bavaria," writes White. "Frantic heritors of frenetic sires, they were in full health more than half insane. When the red rhenish wine of their blood pulsed at full spate through their arteries, when the airy bird bones were gas-filled with little bubbles of unbiddable warm virility, no merely human being could bend them to his will." For both writers, the elemental wildness of their captor-captive stirs them to flights of verbal magnificence on virtually every page. White, a former schoolmaster, calls upon a huge vocabulary -- words like banting, nasconded, silurian, circumbendibus, and perdue -- in addition to the technical language of falconry used by both writers: austringer, jesses, creance, bate, stoop, yarak, and the like. A further subliminal interest in White's writing is that this is the late 1930s, dictators every bit as imperious as White's hawk are flexing their talons over in Europe, and the idea of aerial combat to the death is no longer confined to the world of birds.The book is brilliant. But I have to say it is also a little boring. Good though White's writing is on the individual page, he is not nearly as good as Macdonald at giving the reader a sense of his progress overall. Perhaps because his mistakes are always sending him back towards the starting point, perhaps because of the journal format with day following day with little obvious pattern, I could never measure how far White had come towards his goal. And the last third or more of the book, which are mainly about White's efforts to trap birds of different sizes, lose momentum almost entirely. White is quite frank about his efforts as "a second-rate philosopher who lived alone in a wood, being tired of most humans in any case, to train a person who was not human," but of course the book is about the bird, not him. Macdonald's brilliance is to look into White's entire life, his homosexuality, his traumatic upbringing, and the sadistic tendencies he kept rigorously in check, to produce a psychosexual analysis that would have delighted Freud. Come to think of it, Marie Winn does something rather similar in her ten-page introduction to this edition, perhaps the best preface in any NYRB book that I have read. Either way, it needs this wider perspective. Without it, we get merely an elusive man in an ultimately frustrating struggle with an even more elusive bird. But a great writer.

The goshawk is such a peculiar book, written so far removed from a sense of what might be popular, or topical, from a sense of a book as something to be marketed in a business sense, as to be utter magic, a conviction on the part of the author that a book about the relationship between a man and a raptor, a goshawk tiercel ( we learn among many other things, this is what the name of a raptor is called) is compelling in its own right. The book never sold well, made White, living at the writing of this book, hand to mouth, almost no money at all, and wasn't published for fourteen years, and even then at the insistence of a friend who discovered the manuscript by accident. White would go on to make a fortune on a subsequent book, The Sword in the Stone, which draws from this book. White knew nothing about falconry, decided on learning about it from books, some of them ancient, and without instructions from contemporary austringers (sorry), with possibly the most difficult bird in the aviary. We learn much about falconry, and more inadvertently about the brilliant, tortured recluse who was T.H.White

I read this in preparation for reading highly anticipated Hi is for Hawk], sort of like reading the book before the movie, only reading the book before the book. And it's a gem in and of itself. A wonderful piece of reflection on training a hawk, which requires almost inhuman patience, in a time of upheaval in Europe and the world. But be warned: White had absolutely no idea what he was doing here, and his mistakes are sometimes difficult to read. But the writing is gorgeous.

I had no idea what a joy I was in for when I received this book. I excerpt here a bit of the author's description of his bird: "He was a Hittite, a worshipper of Moloch. He immolated victims, sacked cities, put virgins and children to the sword. He was never a shabby tiger." I read differently and look at birds differently since reading this. 100% five star endorsement - it's a treasure.

I felt that something was missing from this book, although it was a great chance to get to know T.H.White a little better, and from a different vantage point. I did enjoy reading it alongside "H Is for Hawk", as she refers to White's book so frequently. I learned quite a lot about hawking and about these amazing birds, and I think I'll forever be perplexed by the phenom of "bating", something scared and frustrated hawks do without reservation.

Loved this book. Exceptional author and he puts you in the moment.

Excellent read. i have been falconing so it spoke to me. It is difficult to estimate the appeal to someone who has not knowledge of the sport. The explanations of references in Shakespeare were terrific. I will now read "The Once and Future King.

The old classic on training the wild hawk as much as one can be trained. I discovered it by reading Helen McDonald's H is for Hawk. It was an instructive background.
